[SOLVED] Cannot manage user through platform user in Mattermost Enterprise E10

#1

Hi everyone,

I’m facing issues with managing mattermost users through CLI interface. I’ve registered mattermost as a systemd service so I’m able to launch mm with sudo systemctl start mattermost. Regardless, I’m not able to manage any settings / users / channels from /opt/mattermost or /opt/mattermost/bin with the platform utility.

When I start using the platform utility, platform starts another mm instance. After loading the config.json, platform declares that another service is running on port 8065, which is true.

So how can I use platform user create or platform help and so on? I’m very confused right now…

mattermost@mm:/opt/mattermost/bin# ./platform user delete someuser

Hey @swa,

really sorry for the late reply.

It looks like you’re attempting to use the new CLI commands on Mattermost 3.2. You can either
a) Upgrade to Mattermost 3.6 to use the new CLI tools
b) Use the legacy CLI commands which can be found here

I’ve also submitted a pull request proposing we add the old CLI commands to the doc for those running on older Mattermost deployments https://github.com/mattermost/docs/pull/949

Hi jasonblais,

thanks for your reply! Meanwhile, I figured it out by myself and forgot to update my post here. The problem was, that even google search strings like “platform binary mattermost 3.2” are pointing to mattermost 3.6 documentation. So adding a 3.2 CLI reference guide would be very useful I guess.

Thanks anyway - maybe someone else will ran into the same issues like me.

br,
Simon
