Error when integrating service worker into mattermost-webapp application

I am integrating service worker into Mattermost-webapp.

Description:

Currently, my application is starting from
http://localhost:8065/static/ but in essence, it must start from http://localhost:8065/ to be correct.

So when starting my Pwa application, start_url is http://localhost:8065/static/ should give 404 error

Target:

I need to set start_url to http://localhost:8065/ or is there a way for my service worker to work properly, initialized from the root folder? I need a solution
Please help me

Here is my code description:

I register serviceWorker in root.jsx

if ('serviceWorker' in navigator) {
    window.addEventListener('load', () => {
        // Scope will be restricted to the path where the src-sw.js file is located
        navigator.serviceWorker.register('/static/sw.js', {scope: '/static/'}).then((registration) => {
            console.log('Service Worker registered: ', registration);
        }).catch((registrationError) => {
            console.log('Service Worker registration failed: ', registrationError);
        });
    });
}

Hello @AiTranXuan!
Taking a look at your first screenshot that you provided I can see a few things that may need to be changed/added to your code development as well as reconfigured in your Mattermost Instance’s configuration.

Here is what I have observed, and what my thoughts on each of these points are:

  • I noticed that your first error in this message shows that you are using a production environment in a non-production configured setup. This implies that either your Mattermost instance is set to the production version and your service worker is set to run in development mode, or vise versa. This presents security issues, as far as end user privacy etc, and therefore, a decision needs to be made if you would like to continue developing your integration in development mode or production mode. Once this decision has been made, you should update both your service worker and Mattermost installation to reflect the same mode (development or production mode) and this should solve this error. Once ready to switch to production mode, simply go back in your service worker and Mattermost configuration and switch them both to production mode and you should be good to go!

  • I feel like this, to an extent, should be self-explanatory, but that is irrelevant, we’re going to make sure you get your service worker running! This seems to be showing that you are utilizing the Hot Module Replacement code in your service worker, but do not have the module enabled. Enabling this module should solve this issue, I hope.

  • This appears to be the Mattermost API, stating that you are not logged into the server instance and therefore are unauthorized to call for data such as metrics and or images. Would you be willing to elaborate with further details about this, and if this is information from the Mattermost API that the service worker was attempting to access, or if this is an error thrown when you (the user) load the interface?
